SIM Card Registration Exercise FAQs
Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration is the process through which a customer can purchase a SIM card from Vodafone Ghana and have it legally registered on the network to receive voice and data service.
It’s the law. All customers who intend to receive voice and data services in Ghana are legally required to register their SIM cards before use. Subscriber Identity Module Registration Regulations 2011, L.I.-2006.
The registration exercise started on 1st October 2021 and is ongoing.
a. The first step can be done in the comfort of your home. Dial *404# and follow the instructions. You will need your Ghana Card to complete this step. Visit – https://vodafone.com.gh/sim/

Anyone in Ghana, both citizen or foreign national, who intends to use mobile services is required to register their SIM card(s).
a. Ghanaian Citizens – A valid Ghana Card
b. Ghanaian Businesses - Business Certificate of Incorporation, Ghana Card/Non-Citizen Ghana Card (for foreign employees)
c. Foreign Nationals resident in Ghana – Non-Citizen Ghana Card
d. Foreign Nationals on short visit (<90 days) – Passport or ECOWAS Card
e. Foreign Nationals (roaming) – no requirement to register

Your SIM will be disconnected from the network and blocked from accessing all services i.e. calls, data (internet), SMS and mobile money services.

Parents/guardians can use their Ghana Card details to register on behalf of a minor for which they are responsible. The SIM card will be registered in the name of the parent/guardian.

No. Selected delegates from your company will register company SIM cards on the behalf of the business.

Yes. You will need to go through additional steps to prove that you own the SIM card to be registered. You will have to successfully answer some security questions.
Yes. The National Communication Authority and Ministry of Communications & Digitalization have instructed that all SIM cards be registered again using the Ghana Card ONLY.

Yes. The porting process remains the same but with Ghana Card as the only acceptable form of ID.
